The year has almost come to an end and so has dance. It was truly an amazing year. Why ? Well, this year I was on the jazz dance team and the Hiphop dance, I made new friends, met new people and I got so many chances to perform, which I love. The hiphop team came first throughout the year and the jazz team was successful also. During our last competition the jazz team had the highest score in the open category, performing "Heartbreaker". Dance is a confidence builder for me and makes me want to come to school, it's something I look forward too. All the people in dance are like a secon family to me and I'm so grateful for that. Kelowna was also fantastic, it's not everyday you travel with your whole team, bond, room together and perform.

Summative assessment
Attendance: My attendance has been good but not the greatest, I've missed days because I was on vacation, because I was in Kelowna or simply because I was sick.
Punctuality: I can say truthfully I haven't been very punctual maybe 60% of the time I have been punctual , due to late night training but thats no excuse.
Readiness/participate: I'm always ready and I have never forgotten my PE strip and I participate about 90-95% of the time.
Comment on your changes in your fitness, give evidence . why the change ?
My fitness levels were greater in grade 8 and grade 9 reaching to beep test scores of 12.4 and I also held the longest body bridge in my classes. My 25 minute runs would be at least 6 laps or maybe even more. Yet, this year it was a bit lower, and a little bit of a disapointment. My first beep test was 11.4 and the second one was just 11. I feel the fitness test scores are low because of how exhausted I am all the time, the stress of school, the stress of my training and other stuff I've been dealing with. Yet, I don't think my fitness levels have lowered, throughout fitness days, I've been positive and consistent. During fitness days I have done quite well actually, and have been one of the first few to finish the community run.
How do you we contribute to our class dynamic ? what do you bring ? give examples
I contribute to our class dynamic, by participating and including everyone. I know there are things that people aren't good at and don't like to do, I've been there but I try to help them if I can. For example, if when we were playing Volleyball I remember helping one of our classmates with their volleying and bumping. I also motivate others, for example its fitness day and let's say Moe or Amy don't want to are already too tired and don't want to try harder, I will force them to and motivate them, not just them but other classmates too, even the people in our block . I also bring positivity to our class dynamic, I participate and if I look "stupid" or have no idea what I'm doing I laugh it off. Additionally I bring sportsmanship, for instance I'll make my team make a team , we will come up with names and we'll talk about strategies.
What does it mean to you to be phyiscally educated ?How are you ready for independence?
To be physically educated means to have knowledge and understanding on how you can take care of yourself physically and healthily, in other words know how to stay fit, live strong and healthy without the support of others. I am ready for independence because I know how to take care of my body, and what to eat. Even when Physical education finishes I am going to be training, dancing and going for my early morning runs, and playing basketball. During the summer I even join my mom for Bikram yoga, and I know that this lifestyle will carry on even few years from now, because I'm always up to something.
Suggest a grade that attempts to reflect your learning/ performance/ understandings....
A grade I would suggest would be an "A".
Reflect on what barriers might keep you from a healthy/active lifestyle. Troubleshoot these obstacles--> Barriers that might keep me from a healthy active lifestyle might be things that our going on in my life. Family and friend stuff, but I think I can stop it from being an obstacle by putting myself and my health first.

L.A for a week !! Staying fit
( Haven't blogged for the longest time due to no wifi and catching up to homework but blogging is back !!! )
From April 30-May7th I was in Los Angeles. I got to visit Disneyland for 3 days, Lego land , Sea world, Universal studios Hollywood and I also did a lot of shopping.
Besides having an amazing trip, there were disadvantages ! You tend to eat more junk food and eat out more often. DUH DUH DUH
So my goal was to eat the least amount of junk food as possible.
It started with breakfast, which we got at the hotel every morning. I tried to include all 4 food groups or 3 out of the 4.
It would look something like this, a banana, some yogurt, scrambled eggs, slice of toast. It would obviously vary from day to day.
Secondly I would make the healthier choice whenever eating out. Like eating chicken or a salad, or whole grains. McDonalds for me was a total no no.
Another thing my dad and I did was go to the gym, we were fortunate enough to have a small gym at the hotel we were staying. We would usually go after breakfast or at night. Our workouts were usually cardio and resistance because of the lack of variety the gym had. Yet, it was not too bad.

Hard work truly pays off !
Well, grading is part of my martial arts training, it's kind of like an examination. Emotions run high and you can feel the tension.
March 6 2013 , was my grading. It consisted of ground fighting, an intensive warm up consisting of fireman carries and drills and partner work. There knife defence, 2 on 1 sparring, dive rolls, basics and much more.
2 and a half hours worth of exhilarating work and training. After all, you want to show your Doshu what you have learned and that you are willing to rise to the challenge.
I wasn't feeling so confident about this grading infact I was the complete opposite because I know there are many things that I need to improve on but in result, I did receive my promotion.
what I took away from that : "hard work really does pay-off in one way or another" after that grading I knew exactly what I needed to work on and even though I wasn't expecting a promotion I did receive one, I felt pride in myself because I am one of the two girls that train with the big boys.

Not as easy as it looks !
March 12, 2013 Dominique and I, taught a Hiphop combo to 3-4PE classes at once !!! So that's approx. 90-120 students. OH MY ..
We stepped up because we were really looking forward to Hiphop NOT line dancing haha . At first we were a bit hesitant, but we agreed to it and Trust me it was not easy.
There were a lot of people that weren't really willing to participate. Dominique and I came to realization *how do other people feel when we don't participate in what there trying to lead* :O Sometimes we don't realize it because we've never been in their shoes.
Overall it was a great experience
Being able to take such a leadership role and I would definitely do it again.
IDEA: I think within classes we should do a "project" where pairs or groups of 3 have a day to teach PE ! And do something new, it lets them play a leadership role.
